Erasmus BIP Safe Mountain Explorer – Learning in Action

In 15–19 June 2026, the international project “Safe Mountain Explorer” was carried out as part of the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP).

The project brought together students and academic staff from the University School of Physical Education in Wrocław (AWF Wrocław) and partner universities from abroad, who jointly implemented the planned learning programme.

The main aim of the project was to prepare participants for safe movement in mountainous terrain and to develop skills needed for outdoor tourism activities. A strong emphasis was placed on practical, field-based learning.

During the project, participants learned to work with maps, compasses, and GPS devices, gained basic rock-climbing skills, and explored principles for preparing equipment for mountain trips. An important part of the programme also focused on safety in the mountains, including a meeting with mountain rescue services (GOPR), who shared insights into their work and rescue operations.

The project also provided an opportunity for integration and international cooperation. The activities demonstrated that field-based learning and teamwork are effective ways to develop practical skills useful in the mountains and for outdoor activities.
