„…tu jednomu ze stada koputko v puklne zmizelo a zvire lapene wydalo hlasity ryk.
Kdyz pak pasacek sele vyprostil, v teplem prameni v pare svou ruku omyl… delaje to casteji. Bolest kloubu zmizela…

„…jedna z głów stada zniknęła w szczelinie, a uwięzione zwierzę wydało głośny ryk.
Kiedy pasterz uwolnił prosię, omył rękę w parze przy ciepłej wodzie…robił to częściej.
Ból w stawie zniknął…
Teplice, lata pańskie 762…”
Lazne Teplice v Cechach is the oldest health spa in central Europe, famous for its thermal waters with healing properties. The spa is very charming, surrounded by parks, gardens and fountains. It includes four sanatoriums (spa houses): Beethoven (LÁZEŇSKÝ DŮM BEETHOVEN), Czarist (CÍSAŘSKÉ LÁZNĚ), Stone (KAMENNÉ LÁZNĚ), New (NOVÉ LÁZNĚ).
Lazne Teplice v Cechach offers spa, therapeutic, ambulatory and recreational stays. The health spa specializes in the treatment of adults with diseases of the musculoskeletal system (e.g. pain syndromes of the spine, joints after injuries and surgeries of the musculoskeletal system), vascular (peripheral vascular diseases, hypertension of the 1st-3rd degree), nervous (post-stroke brain sans, post-operative conditions of the spine and brain, multiple sclerosis) and children (from the 3rd month to the 18th year) struggling with neurological disorders, especially cerebral palsy.
The Lazne Teplice health spa has been working intensively with our university for many years. It is there, during the vacations, that our students have the opportunity to undergo traineeship in physical therapy, hydrotherapy, kinesitherapy and massage. The traineeships are carried out under the flag of the Erasmus program.
In the summer 2023 edition, 15 AWF students carried out practical activities in the Czech Republic. The students represented different years, their knowledge and experience differed, but they were united by a desire for new challenges and opportunities.
Foreign internships are always full of emotions and expectations. And the beginnings are not necessarily easy….
Our students not only had to quickly implement themselves in therapeutic tasks, but also adapt to a different reality. The clients of Lazne Teplice Spa are Czechs and other nationalities, among them the largest Arab and German. On an accelerated basis, trainees had to learn how to communicate effectively with patients with different language and cultural backgrounds. Students received several lessons in Czech and a glossary of basic professional terms. For sure, they will never again forget the few sentences they said a dozen times a day, such as prosím lehni si na břicho (please lie down on your stomach). In addition to Czech, knowledge of English, German and Arabic came in handy, and “body language” was extremely useful, too. Working with Arabic patients required a high degree of flexibility and attentiveness to respect and etiquette. One had to be conscious of their behavior and words. It was not without mishaps and funny situations as well as matrimonial proposals – it is known that Polish girls are the prettiest!
The internship passed quickly. Everyone survived – students, patients and Lazne Teplice staff.
The end was celebrated with a festive dinner, to which the students and special guests were invited – the departmental Erasmus representative Dr. Iwona Wilk, the administrative supervisor of the apprenticeship, Svitoslava Sremcevic, MA, as well as the coordinator of the whole project, Monika Ilecka-Folcik, MA.
The Polish team was happy to receive praise and good words about the students. There were stories, laughs and plans for the future with hugs and gifts.
